This thread tracks community reports about Fairino software 4.0.0 and what to check before upgrading.
Status
Known warning. Fairino Europe support advised against version 4.0.0, because it does not work properly with the teach pendant and the HTTPS certificate causes problems. The advice is to use the fixed version 4.0.0-1 instead.
What changed
- Since 4.0.0 the controller software uses TLS/HTTPS encrypted communication. Fairino Europe support linked this to EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.
Reports so far
- A downgrade is possible. Support advises saving the configuration on the old version before upgrading, so it can be restored after a downgrade.
- One user reported that a backup made on a higher version did not work on an older one, and that Profinet caused problems when loading a backup.
- One user lost access to the robot after installing 4.0.0.1. The cause is not confirmed.
- In SimMachine v4.0.0, one user could not find the FRCap Management menu described in the documentation.
Before you upgrade
- Back up programs, points and configuration on the current version.
- Confirm your controller type: QX or LA.
- Check that you can reach Web Recovery on your robot.
- Try the upgrade on a robot that is not in production first.
